Well what a birthday present...Yesterday, I had a heat stroke at work and it was very strange because right before I passed out I knew I was going to but I couldn't do anything about it. The next thing I remember is waking up wondering why I was on the floor. I stood up and the concierge downstairs in the lobby, (which is where I passed out)called the manager and my boss upstairs. When they came down I was sweating profusely and very not aware of my surroundings. Of course, they decide to call 911. The paramedics came and checked me out and my blood pressure was WAY below normal, 93/80, and dropping. They said that I HAD to go to the hospital because that was bad and the fact that I was out for 50 seconds when normal is 1-3 seconds. So I went to the hospital and was throwing up all over the place. They gave me an IV and ran a CAT Scan and tested my blood, etc. Everything was normal so they finished rehydrating me and let me go home. The lessons learned from this story...
1) Always eat before you leave the house, even if you are planning on going to K Street Bagels anyways.
2) Always get plenty of water, even if you feel fine.
3) NEVER drink hot cocoa on a day when the heat index is over 100
